Young Men’s Christian Union Building is built.

Architect: Nathaniel Bradlee. Designed in the High Gothic Revival style, the sandstone building is located at 48 Boylston Street. The organization was founded by a group of Harvard students as a religious study group and incorporated in 1852. According to Peter Tufts Richardson, it was also formed as a response to Unitarian youth being excluded from the YMCA. After meeting initially on School Street, the group decides to build its own headquarters. The building is added to over the years, renovated in 2003, and is converted to into affordable housing in 2019.*
